As a Superior WI family photographer, I believe your session should feel more like a walk together than a performance. Families aren’t meant to sit perfectly still. Kids wiggle. Parents laugh. Someone always forgets something. That’s the good stuff. Whether we’re at Wisconsin Point, along Lake Superior, or tucked into fall colors in Superior, your photos will feel real — not staged. My family sessions include calm direction without over-posing, space for kids to be themselves, honest connected moments, and a mix of candid and lightly guided images that feel timeless rather than trendy. You don’t need perfectly behaved kids. You just need to show up. I’ve photographed families throughout Superior and the surrounding North Shore area and understand how to work with wind off the lake, changing light, and active little ones. As a mom of two, I see both sides — the chaos and the beauty — and I know how to capture both in a way that feels meaningful. If you’re wondering what happens if your kids don’t cooperate, they don’t need to. I build movement into the session so we capture natural expressions. Neutrals with texture photograph beautifully near Lake Superior, and I’m happy to guide you on what to wear. Most family sessions last about 45–60 minutes, and golden hour near the lake is especially beautiful in late summer and early fall.
